I wrote a book about pressing start.
Now I’m writing an email to get you to Press Start too.
This used to be me:
I just need to make my 6 month plan, then I can begin.
Every week there was another excuse to block me from beginning that project I finally wanted to start. I had so many things I wanted to do but now wasn’t the perfect time.
I just need to make sure I’ve got everything lined up before I start.
Slowly, I began to realise this:
There’s no such thing as a perfect plan.
I realised that the best way to plan something is to begin imperfectly.
To begin before I was ready.
To start instead of never starting.
I realised these things by consuming a series of quotes about action.
I read them every day.
They completely rewired my thinking.
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”—Bruce Lee
“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”—Walt Disney
These style of quotes became a huge inspiration for me to move. To do things. To become relentless and prolific. So much so, I took my favourite ones, visualised them and made a book of them.
Now I’m writing an email.
If you want a short idea in your inbox designed to get you out of planning mode and into starting mode, this is for you.
It’s time to Press Start.
